Matters arising from last committee meeting
Finding someone on committee to take over records and treasurer
Steve Trott has taken over Records (off committee)
Peter Collier is still happy to be treasurer as of January 2023 that’s all he wants to be doing (off committee)
Rule book has been out for its 6 week consultation which ended the 16th of November.
Laptop is all set up and running.

Correspondence in/out

The only feedback we had was from John Belworthy as below
Evening Trev/Amy
I make comments on the following page (all others agreed)
Pg 24. How is the Yellow flag state to be presented? By announcement and /or physical flag - not mentioned.
Pg 42. Not one on list but note at bottom of table on Suggested penalty should all be BOLD - as it's to be mentioned in the Drivers Briefing
Pg 49. Should read Integrated Fail Safe AND Ignition Kill Device (- 2 systems not combined
Pg 71. Item 11 So how is this actually checked! Most competitors are using modern 2.4Rx with no way of powering down (as Futaba RX) for range check unless full distance checking
Item 12 remove - on Tx/Rx activated and checked - this makes it absolutely clear it is throttle closing on Tx off switch failsafe. It is recommended that

Regards, John Belworthy

Replied with a thank you
Trevor Terry handed in his resignation via email as below
Please take this as my formal resignation from the NZMBPA committee.
Work commitments involving alot of time away from home have impacted how much time I have spare. I also have issues with the current tone coming from the NZMPBA. I disagree with the object stated in the constitution " to control of model boating throughout NZ".
Recent requests to seek "approval" from the NZMPBA to change one of our club race dates, is in my opinion over the top. We have never had to do that before.
You need to make it easier for clubs to exist, not harder. After all, it's just a hobbie and we all give or time freely.
I wish you guys all the best, I do feel the key is for the NZMPBA to understand to role it plays and making sure its actions are all about meeting its role for the good of growing model boating in NZ. Not making it harder.
Regards Trev Terry NZMPBA 87

Presidents reply done by email that was sent to all committee members on the 7th of November.

To NZMPBA Committee
I am somewhat perplexed and bewildered by some of the decisions of the
NZMPBA committee leading up to and following your October committee
meeting.
On 24 October I personally received the introductory Message via e-mail from
the president and secretary that was also the same message sent to the
Membership with the proposed rule changes on 5 th October.
I replied later that day to inform that I no longer are involved with the running
of the Marlborough Model Powerboat Club and gave them the e-mail of the
new club secretary.
The next correspondence sent to me is on the eve of the October Committee
meeting October 2 nd whilst I am in Queensland competing at the QLD state
champs asking if there are any records needing approval, an e-mail I did not
read until I got to Bundaberg on the 4 th . Why that question needed to be asked
in the first place beats me as all one had to do was look at the Calendar on the
website to see if there were any events for record attempts and of course
there was one and that got cancelled well in advance of the date and was
posted on the website.
In any case as records officer, had any been broken the secretary would have
been notified before I left to race in Australia, I am not that stupid!!
Next correspondence is 2 e-mails on October 5 th .
1, The afore mentioned introductory message together with new rule book
upgrade for consultation scrutineering forms and insurance letter.
#2 Good Afternoon Graham
I would like to start by saying a very big thank you to you for keeping doing the speed records for the
committee. We would like to inform you that we have now got someone else to do this work for us.
This now will let you completely focus on your model boating.
Thanks
Trevor
NZMPBA President
Amy NZMPBA Honouree Secretary ( SPELLING)??????
So, what has prompted this????

No consultation with me whatsoever!!!
You obviously have short memories ( I suggest you all read the discussion
under note 4 Secretary/treasurers report in the 2022 AGM Minutes) !!!!
To refresh your memories, I volunteered to continue as records
collator/officer at the last AGM as I have done it for more years that I care to
remember as I know what to do and I am one of the few in our organisation
still interested in record breaking and making sure things are done right.
I have also compiled and continuing to update a record archive of every single
record ever set since the inception of our organisation and wished to continue
to do so.
My printer is also set up to print the record cards which was no easy feat. I also
have approximately 50 blank record cards to use as required.
So, what’s the new records officer going to do issue handwritten records on a
pieces of paper as I have all the blank Association record cards in my
possession !!!!
Also, on the same day as the 2 above e-mails were received, the October
committee meeting minutes were posted on the website.
Under General business:-
1 :-Calendar on web page being changed by non-committee members
Yes, as you know that was me.
Why?
I have been the one compiling the calendar since 2016 and making changes
when requested. It was an event I was planning to run if weather and river
conditions allowed that did not eventuate, so I cancelled my own event.
I also always updated the records on the website as they got approval from
the committee.
Also, none of you have noticed that I am and have been a moderator of the
forum since the web site was created.
Now my access has been terminated I can no longer do any of those.
If this committee cannot trust me to continue as a moderator, given the years
of service to the NZMPBA ,then get me removed from that role forth with.

2 :- We need to find someone on the committee to take over records and treasurer as PC is happy to
do it in interim GH?
See above
3 :- Put up in forums about treasurer and records collator needed
Can’t figure this one out. In 2 above you need to find some one on
Committee to take over records and treasurer so why do you need to do 3.
Below a paragraph from the note sent by the President to the membership.
My goal while being President and working with the committee is to try our best to get some form of
consistency and do our best not to make changes unless absolutely needed in saying that this does
not mean your club can’t put suggestions forward to the committee to make changes that will make
things easier.
So, what did you do after this committee meeting? Make unnecessary changes.
Again, below next Paragraph
As I have a background in running my own business and in health and safety and insurances around
the health and safety aspect, I have found that to make things flow the best way is communication.
So we would like NZMPBA members to feel comfortable to communicate with us as we move
forward. In my opinion there is no point in grumbling about the committee behind the scenes if you
are not prepared to put your grumbles forwarded to the committee as we can only make decisions
on what is in front of us in writing we can not operate under hearsay.
COMMINICATION
You posted in the minutes to put up on forum about treasurer and records
collator needed.
We are now 2 months on, and the membership is yet to see that post.
Again, I get an e-mail to say you have got someone else to be the records
officer to replace me and again 2 months down the track the membership has
no idea this decision was made and they and I have no Idea who it is.
As mentioned above a decision that did not need to be made.
I Have speed runs scheduled for this weekend that I am cancelling because of
this debacle.
I look forward to some explanations
