Hi Brian

As always the first place you should look is the rule book(s) on this very website, link below.

Rule Book

If you can't find it here then complain to the committee. They are very diligent on keeping this updated as I am the lucky one who gets to load up everything they send me I can say it is regularly updated. If only the membership realised this and looked there first.

The same goes for Propshaft the 2016-1 final edition is there now.

Yep I found the info I was after, thanks for pointing me in the right direction. Two things, first of all Dean Harris should of only received 15 points as he finished second to last so that makes 10 + 5 but he was allocated 20. And Peter you are wrong about the P/C points in Off Shore. Sure it is on merit that the points are allocated but if there are two or more boats of the same class competing they get an extra 5 points per boat. This is where the anomalies are, a person could be running a P2 boat and finish 1st overall and then there could be 5 P3 boats finish behind him and they will gather more points than the P2 entry if he is the only entry. There is no incentive to run a nitro, P1, P2 & PX especially when this occurs. Cheers

Regrading Presidents Cup Points

Dean Harris has the correct amount of PC points.

10 points for coming ninth out of ten competitors.
10 points for coming first in his class which had two competitors.

Quoted from the rule book "Allocate 5 points per competitor per event, then reduces 5 points per place."

You need a minimum of two boats to make up a class in the offshore series not four which is required at the nationals.

Which is exactly why I don't support points systems based on the number of entries. They devalue the effort of those that turn up to support the smaller classes. If people really cared about collecting points they'd all build boats in lesser contested classes and take the easier points. The interesting result would be the re-emergence of some classes, and the sport would grow again.

The current points system has only been in place for the last 2 maybe 3 years. Prior to that it was a set number of points for each placing per event and I think 50 points per record. Events that qualified were records, Nationals and sanctioned events.

All looks good and totally fair to me.

Now fix the Offshore points system, that is the one with the problem.
