For those that may have missed the email sent on December 2, here is the link to the new offshore rule set for 2016. It will come into effect from January 13 and be added to the rule book and supercede the existing rule.

I have heard through the grapevine that my objection was discussed in General Business and was not voted on. What sort of outfit are we dealing with when one puts pen to paper and says in black & white that if the committee can not come up with a better solution then it should be put out to the members to be voted on. If this is the way that the NZMPBA are going to conduct business then they should take a hard long look at themselves. The remit system has been taken away we were told in no uncertain circumstances at the last AGM that there would be no General Business where does a member go. No wonder we are losing members, get real let the bloody members have a say on how boating should be run.

Brian why don't you talk to the secretary or president or the treasurer to find out if the grape vine was in fact correct instead of bleating about it on this web site. After all they are fellow club members aren't they. After all they may offer a perfectly simple explanation

FYI Nitro It did come from one of them before I was officially notified. So I was not bleating at all.

Please read and understand the constitution! The committee is charged with running association affairs, not the members. Just because an individual doesn't think they haven't been listened to, does not mean that they haven't. The system we have have now IS more efficient than the old remit system. In the past remits that didn't make it through at one AGM would have to wait until the next one and so forth. Which meant changes could take years, literally. Brian I expect to see your hand up to be on the next committee so you can be directly involved in the affairs of the association and understand better and be a part of the processes.

I'm sorry to say Peter, but by removing the remit system members were going to be kept informed and updated but this has not happened. What the committee says goes and I am afraid this is not the way the association should work. The new Off Shore rules once finalized should of gone out for every member to peruse and comment on. We all should have our democratic rights. Us as members should not be dictated to. To me these new rules leave a lot to be desired and I honestly don't think a lot of thought has gone into them, there are several items that are simply not there, especially the safety issues. Look where Auckland is and if the association keeps going the way it is heading there will be a lot more joining Auckland. I might sound harsh but I did not get where I am today by being Mr nice guy. Cheers

Why is it that our members do not bother to read and understand our constitution and rules but rather moan and complain! The offshore rule set was emailed out on December 2, but a whole lot of members did not bother to open and read it. The committee is working as per the constitution to the best of our ability. If you want it different then step up and take a spot on the committee and be involved, that is your democratic right! Stop throwing stones from the sidelines.
If the IRB makes a rule change the players, coaches and referees have to abide by those rules. If F1 makes a rule change then the teams and drivers have to abide by those rules. What is different?

I am no longer a member of the NZMPBA.
And this is a classic example of why.
All members have lost their right to be heard in the very club they own.
My advice to all is the following. Dont bother to pay your fees, and the association will no longer exist. Or every member should submit or support a remit to return the constitution back to how it previously read.
Yes, everything would take longer to change. But your voice will be restored.
Now I know I'm going to get flamed for my moments. Dont bother, I'm only here today because a few members who are aware of my email to the committee about this same thing was dismissed as accusation without proof. Pitty they themselves didn't actually read my email instead of viewing it as an attack on the committee.

Regards

Fred

Thanks Fred for the support. Peter, as far as the Off Shore rules are concerned, when they were emailed out they were already set in stone. If they were emailed out and said well here are the proposed new rules you have two weeks or whatever to object or propose minor changes or add something that would of been fine. But that did not happen. Cheers
