Once again the BOPMPBC have been given the go ahead to try and resurrect the Nationals after another failure from down the line. Running the Nationals is not an easy task and can not be done successfully in two and a bit months. If the BOP club manage to get some racing together at a national level and I am sure they will, it will be because of an awful lot of effort in a very short time from their members. This effort will only see boats on the water not anything else and when I say that I mean advertising & sponsorship, This all takes time & effort of which the BOP club don't have in such a small time frame. The BOP club have by far the best setup and to utilize these facilities the club needs to be given the nationals for between 3 to 5 years to be able to showcase the event. By doing this planning can now begin for not only next year but for the years ahead and by doing this it maybe possible to get some of those Aussies back. Other clubs have applied to run the nationals and at the last minute have failed for one reason or another to come up with the goods. I don't think the association has to think long and hard about this, it should be a done deal. Cheers Sorry

C'mon guys. This negative rubbish has to stop! Enough of picking at the few who step up and try and make an effort to organise, hold and run events. How about we all step back, take a deep breath and consider the bigger picture. Enough with the putting down, it is not in line with what our constitution mandates us ALL as members in promoting Model Power Boating in NZ. We will only ever get out what we put in, and if that is nothing then that is what will be reaped. If we all make the effort to support events, and those who make the effort to hold them, and go and boat for fun, not to create divisions and arguements, THEN it will be fun and sucessful!
If some of these attitudes continue, then inevitably those who are making the effort will give up, then what boating will there be?
It seems to me that there are a number of members who need to step up at the next AGM and be on the committee so that they can be a part of making things happen, as they have quite a lot to say about it all. So....how about it then?

Brian you need to have a serious think about how you'd feel if it was you or your club that had to decide not to run the nationals. How would you feel if somebody made an assertion about why the last Nationals hosted by the BOP club was called off at the last minute?

I'm asking this because, the natural reaction of most to what you have written above is that you're having a go at them.

Whilst this may or may not be your intention it's how the receiver feels. Nitro's response is evidence of how he took it. You need to respect that's how he and anybody from the South Island may feel.

We don't need this sort of emotion and it's not conducive to growing the organisation or resolving any of the issues it may face. We need members who are engaged in trying to grow the sport and collaborating across the board to find solutions. As an example, an offer from North Island residents and members to be available to help run an SI nationals would have been a much more helpful and positive approach.

Please take the time to think about the tone of what you write and how those on the receiving end may feel and be inclined to respond. You may think that a blunt forthright approach has worked well for you and your career, I'd also suggest it's also held you back more than you'd know.

Hi Everyone
Due to low entry numbers and popular feedback, the committee has made the decision to cut this years National Championships back to two days. It will now run on Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 March. Please use the existing entry form, classes to run and race schedule will be sorted after entries close on March 4 and will be notified to competitors as soon as possible after that date.
The AGM is postponed and will be organised for later in the year.
For those who have yet to enter, please enter as many events as you can, we will endeavor to fit as many viable events as possible into the two days that we can, however there may be some rationalising of classes if time frames require. Remember that there are double P.C. points on offer at the nationals also.
There is still a chance to have a Nationals this year but it will rely on entries, so if you want to and can, let’s make it happen.
