Can the organizers tell me if Presidents Cup points will be awarded at the North Island Champs to those that run in the Stock Class events. I eagerly await the reply to this question. Cheers.

Hi Sorry,

From the rule book :

Presidents Cup.

Object : To measure, rank and reward all NZMPBA members that compete at any and all sanctioned regattas and events as advertised on the NZMPBA calendar of events. ( This excludes National Club Days )

Period: Starts the day after the conclusion of the NZMPBA National Championships, and finishes at the conclusion of the following NZMPBA National Championships, ie approx 1 calendar year.

Qualifying classes: A minimum of 2 boats of the same class competing at any sanctioned event other than the NZMPBA National Championships is required to form a “competition” to qualify for Presidents Cup points.

The points scoring system is applied as required per class. Open, Merged and Handicap type events are treated the same way as an individual class.

On behalf of Steve Trott

If you are trying to say “stock” is not yet a formal class, that is true, however there is a mandate to trial run the class ( as we did at the 2014 Nats) and IT IS a notified EVENT at a SANCTIONED regatta as per the above excerpt from the rule book.

A comparison could be handicap and merged class racing, results for this are also allowable, yet handicap and merged class racing to my knowledge is not ( yet) mentioned in the rule book anywhere either.

The idea is that competition EVENTS as advertised as part of sanctioned REGATTAS which attract at least 2 boats do gather PC points.

As far as I am concerned the stock classes qualify for PC points in my personal opinion and as the Regatta Director.

Regards, Steve Trott.

You will need to challenge the NZ Committee further if you disagrees.

To your question PC points YES

Cheers Bruce
