Yep they certainly have their place, bloody hard to beat them on days like that! 🙂 Have to say those two boats of yours are very nicely balanced, and handled the conditions beautifully.

Sorry

Yep I agree the boats that circulated continuously accumulating laps in conditions similar to last year deserved to finish where they did. Well done Leon & Bob. A great big thanks to the Hamilton club for another well organised day and to all those that got in and helped. I enjoyed my day as I think every one else did. Cheers.

Narly weather that challenged drivers and boats, but it was awesome to see everyone enjoying themselves and having FUN. Great stuff guys.I look forward to competing in these next year.

I assume all the flameouts we had was from water in the boat hitting the flywheel and going into carb. I wonder if a silicon exhaust deflector on the carb could have helped.

Yeah definitely flameouts are from water hitting the carb. Yes any sort of deflector helps. I blocked the two forward facing vents on my engine cowls and that helped.

On my petrol hydro I run a PET bottle shroud over the top of the carb and I see a couple of guys have made brackets to shield the carb on their offshore boats, I wish I had.

I could see on my boat that it was taking big gulps of water that was going straight to the bottom of the hull because of a deflector I have behind the naca sccop. when it got too much for the auto bailers, it would nose dive and the water sloshes forward and nec minnet flameout. Makes me wondering about devising a large hole in the transom that closes when the throttle closes and opens fully at about 1/3 throttle to get the water out faster.

Pete, Matt will post results tomorrow night, he's busy with a committee meeting right now.
