Hi,

We had our Club / Race day down at the Barrage Gates on Sunday, going down early, setting up and had a picnic lunch

Set a large course out, had a nice breeze giving some chop. We managed to get in eight races and all three championships were competed for. Racing was very competitive and enjoying the height of the drivers stand, an excellent view of the whole course. The 150+ metre straights gave the boats a chance to really wind out. The Cats ran 10 laps on the M course, 3min 12 secs, approx 19 seconds a lap !!! Very close racing between Keith and Trevor, Trevor over the line about 4 seconds in front.

Had a couple of collisions into the barrage gates,, Ray's boat received damagee to the bow, but Wayne managed to stop with minor damage.

It was great to see Fred over from Wellington.

Being a Sunday there was quite a bit of traffic on the road with quite a few stopping to watch.

Shaping up to be a busy month for the club. We had our race day, have a club dinner at the Cosmopolitan Club this coming Sunday night, then the Wellington Offshore on the 23rd March.

At this stage we are still off Henley, but hopefully should be back soon. The Council are going to run tests on the water.

We have been given the go ahead to build three tables down between the two existing tables at our spot at Henley Lake, so this is a club project for us. This will mean we can keep our boats off the ground which will be better and safer. We are in the final process for getting permission to build a new jetty which will be approx 10 metres long and will enable us to pull the old one down which has gone past it's use by date.

An exciting year coming up with another round of the Welly offshore later in the year, The Taupo 100 in August, then the Wairarapa Model Power Boat Club are hosting the North Island Champs here in Masterton over Labour weekend.

Thanks to Ray for his rescue boat, Sharon for the excellent photos. Freds Green Turtle showing a good turn of speed, and not really sure what Trevor was trying to do, but looked spectacular.

If any inquiries re club activities please give Ray (06) 377 0304 or Wayne (06) 370 1670 a call,

Wayne M
