Our normal venue of Henley Lake is closed due to Algae Bloom, so for the last two Sundays have been going down to a not so secret location in Southern Wairarapa known as the Barrage Gates. These are a set of remote controlled gates used to control the flow of water from Lake Wairarapa into Lake Ferry. Basically a dam with the roadway over the top.

A great location and depending on the wind direction can either go on the northern side or southern side. Today we went on the southern side, a great clean expanse of water, easy access for launching and retrieving. Standing up on top by the roadway would have to be one of the best drivers stands ever.

Our club / race day is next weekend and is planned to be at Kourarau Dam, meeting in the carpark at 12/30 pm.

Will notify if for any reason there is a change of plans.

Attached are photos of today at the Barrage Gates,

Wayne M

Hi,

Due to the motor cycle hill climb at Kourarau this coming Saturday and Sunday (and the closure of the road)our club / race day will now be down at the barrage gates, southern Wairarapa. The dam is situated on the East West Access Road which goes between No. 1 Line and the Western Lake Road.

Just so lucky to have a choice of venues that we enjoy,

Wayne M
