MINUTES OF THE NEW ZEALAND MODEL POWER BOAT ASSOCIATION
COMMITTEE MEETING
HELD THURSDAY 17th January 2012
VIA SKYPE CONFERENCE CALL
Meeting Opened 8.00pm
Present
Wayne Mowbray (WM) as Chair, Grahame Haines (GH), Matt Gay (MG), Matthew Bindon (MB), and Paul Bretherton (PB), Andrew Colquhoun (AC).
Apology Steve Trott.
Web Site.
GH reported feedback has been very positive.
He reported Fred Zinsli had reported on 10 January that the site had had 20273 hits which includes hits from bots like Google.
GH had had a note from a member that the Secretaries address was missing from membership form posted on website.
PB asked GH to post a corrected one in Drop Box and he could update the site one.
AC commented we need to have current national champions listed on site.
MG suggested nationals page.
GH Steve Trott and I had already discussed that and will do that from the Tauranga nationals with a photo of each winner as well
GH report all the photos ST put on Drop Box had disappeared and contact with ST confirmed he had not removed them so was re adding them for use on the website.
PB suggested some one may have inadvertently cut and pasted them instead of
copy and paste.
MB enquired of PB how do we get entry forms onto the calendar
PB put them into Drop Box and I will do it from there.
FINANCES
GH reports we ended 2011 with 97 members.
Working Bank A/C stands at $4459.45
Entry fee account still at $32.21
OVERSEAS COMPETITION.
GH noted no sub for NAVIGA appears to have been paid in 2011.
There are rumours that there is an organisation calling themselves the NZ NAVIGA Assn
GH Reports via Peter collier that NAVIGA prefer to acknowledge 1 organisation for each country represented.
Agreed GH write to NAVIGA advising of our findings and advise we will be having selection process at our National championships at Easter.
It maybe we have to pay the NAVIGA subs so we have control.
AC Competition at the Nationals should be mandatory for the selection process to be fair to attend a world championship. All agreed.
CLUB STUFF
PB mentioned a fun thing started in Wellington is some are now running small electric boats and have a brief event at a local pond before their monthly club night meeting and is gaining momentum
AC passed comment that this sort of thing is a good way to get kids involved in the hobby as well. It is cheap everyone is on a level playing field and driving becomes more important than just speed.
MG reported he and bob as well as the Jamiesons are running the same boats down here.
OFFICIAL OBSERVERS FOR SPEED RUNS.
AC submitted and e-mail application from Andrew O’Neill requesting wether he and Damian baker could be approved as official observers for speed runs in the north Island.
It was unanimously agreed that they can be.
Also unanimously agreed that GH write a letter via e-mail advising of our decision and pointing out that they, as well as any competitor must be a financial member of the NZMPBA to perform such duties.
REMITS FOR THE AGM
WM asked about procedures. ST advised they must come to the secretary first then published well before the AGM so that everyone has an opportunity to discuss /ponder their thoughts and make arrangements for proxy voting if they are not attending the AGM
PROPSHAFT
Some discussion on timing of next Propshaft.
Agreed GH advise Peter we should put one out early March with latest updates and advice for nationals taking priority for newcomers in particular.
There being no further business the meeting closed at 9.45pm
