Hi all,
Into April and haven't been on the water this year. The lake was closed due to toxicity levels and now with the lake looking lovely we get hit with Covid 19. When we go back to Level 3 this will, maybe, still exclude us due to numbers allowed at a gathering. It is what it is.
It took the local council two years to realise that the supply of water from the river was blocked. True, despite regular checks by the Council Now this has been sorted we can hopefully look forward to better lake conditions.
We are shaping up to having a good years racing when we start. There will be ten or so boats competing in the Offshore, same in the Open Oval. Have a fleet of eight cracker boxes now and this season we are introducing a cat championship.
That gives us four Club championships to compete for. Some new boats for this season so with bigger fields and faster boats, competition will be fierce, but friendly. We have always had an emphasis on fun. Boating has to be enjoyable.
Will be running two club days a month, Second and fourth Sundays. If we get to stay on the lake longer coming into next summer we will have a good seasons racing.
Take care out there. Stay in your 'bubble' and respect others.
Wairarapa Club.
