Hi Nitro
As discussed, I' happy to handover administration of the current NZMPBA facebook page. However, I recommend that you setup and New NZMPBA Open Group on Facebook, then direct all the current page members to the new group and say given them a reminder, then shutdown the current page after two weeks or so.

The current page cannot be converted into a group so a new group page needs to be set-up. "It's currently not possible to convert Facebook Pages into groups. You can create a group and link it to your facebook page and enable the group option from settings. This way your fans will be able to see that you have the group however conversion of page into group is still not possible."

WRT a new website, I recommend that the committee work on a list of requirements and be very clear what you want the new website to do. I also recommend that you create an online membership application on the new website.

As far as content management systems are concerned, Wordpress has been a standard for quite some time. But people I know in the business are using a CMS called Rocket Spark. Here's an example of a rocket spark based website a mate just did. https://www.hac.org.nz/

Here's another example of a site just done for one of the fishing clubs I work with, by a University student, he charged them $2500 for this one. Have a look at the membership page for an example of the online membership function. You don't have to have it Credit card capable but you can have it bank account capable in the same way that NZTA do their RUC and registration payments.

https://raglansportfishing.co.nz/

Hope that helps, and let me know when you want to shutdown the NZMPBA group, or whatever you want to do with it.

Cheers
Bob

Hi Grahame as I said I would, following is a summary of my conversations with Peter Anderson, sorry it has taken so long but time has been of a premium lately.
I have had 2 constructive conversations with Peter and a personal letter to me regarding his issues.
He feels that being excluded from the forum immediately was not handled correctly and feels that he should have had a right of reply before being excluded as you know he has quoted the Bill of Rights but I had no intention of going down that track but he also mentioned that our constitution has clauses to cover that as well.
Regarding this and after some lengthy time talking to him I don’t believe he was making accusations or whatever you may wont to call them at or to anybody but he was disappointed that he made an offer to run the event in Tauranga but felt he was ignored by the lack of respone .I mentioned to him about the abruptness of some of his posts and he agreed that some things don’t come out as intended [and while trying to make this letter sound as I want I can sympathise] I haven’t seen the email in question but believed what he said.
I’m hoping that we can find in the constitution what he is talking about and see if we made a mistake or not and if we did then offer him an apology there is absolutely no shame in that but to hide will do irreversible damage.
Another comment he made was reading the minutes and seeing a letter will be sent to him and having it not arrive, he mentioned a reply not received to a letter that was discussed at the September meeting.
He also mentioned that he put forward a Code of Conduct suggestion at the 2017 AGM perhaps we should revisit this as it could stop these sort of issues coming up again but if they do maybe some guide lines to solving them
Regarding the Code of Conduct I also feel that a few basic guidelines should be put into the forum heading stated what is allowed and what’s not allowed this may encourage more people to use it.
I also asked him why he didn’t go to the 2019 AGM inTaupo and his reply was that e felt quite uncomfortable as it was being held at John’s home and due to the circumstance I can sympathise with that.
After using the minutes for research I have to comment that our minutes are way to abbreviated and I found it really hard to make sense of some of the replies when it was a couple of months since we discussed a subject.
If this could be tabled at the next meeting hopefully I can answer any questions our committee may have, but in summarising Peter’s and my talks he actually doesn’t want to be the bad guy but he does have strong opinions just the same as most everybody who goes boating or any other individual sport / hobby I don’t believe that is necessarily a bad thing and this is where a Code of Conduct will help.
Regards Murray

Correspondence Discussion

1 Committee have looked at Bobs Proposal and take it on board to Brent

2 Committee acknowledge they have not followed the correct complaints procedure and will reinstate Mr Andersons access to the forum immediately. Secretary of NZMPBA to send a letter of apology to be sent to Mr Anderson

I just want to say THANK YOU to the committee for the apology and the commitment to make a few changes to ensure these situations become a thing of the past.
A big THANK YOU also to Murray for taking the time to talk to me and listen. How quickly things can be sorted when you talk to people instead of about them. I trust we have all learned from this and can communicate better with each other instead of getting offended at differing opinions.
