Replaced my flexi yesterday and took it the boat for a run to get ready for the Welly offshore. After a bit of tuning I had it running sweet, then a weird noise came from the boat and the motor screamed and wouldn't shut down...it started to sink lower in the river Bugger 🙁 🙁 🙁 🙁 🙁
The Teflon liner picked up and you can see the results. The damaged flexi spun around and knocked the throttle link off also.

What was the gap between the coupler and the prop tube? It should be 10-15 mm, no more otherwise you will get whipping. Not sure what part the teflon would have played.

Gap is about 15mm, the Teflon liner slipped down over the taper of the ferrule and them melted into a big mess on the flexi.

Yup and that ladies and gentlemen is why I don't botther with teflon. there really is no substitute for good ol fashion grease.

Still it's only flesh wound, so with a bit of West and Glas cloth you be ready by thursday and you're weekend drinking/preparation shouldn't be too badly impacted.

What stops the liner from spinning around inside the shaft, I was going to install a teflon liner but I think I will stay with grease.

Stay with Grease, Teflon liners create more problems than they solve.

Never had a problem before, and many in the Welly club have used them for many years. But then Bigfishbob has many photos oh him on the podium, so his advise should be taken into account. Cant believe Im saying nice things about him.......

Hi Paul,

Know the feeling, had the new boat out the other day, giving the Blata engine a run, snapped the shaft, revved over the top, and flew into a thousand bits. Bugger,

Wayne.
