Ok, so let's put one thing into perspective. The NZMPBA National Championships is our premier annual racing event. This is where NZs best model powerboat racers go to race to win national championship titles. If people do not want to enter for what ever reason, that is their right.
The 'Stock' petrol class, Stock being defined by the T1 motor rule is a good idea that appears popular and I support it.
Now can someone please define what "the same old shit" is? That way I can do my best to avoid it!
Also nothing can be done to help those who "can't be bothered".!

Hi Pete
To be honest I'm neither here nor there with the Stock Class itself, it will be extremely close racing, and will be fun just like any other racing. The issue I have with its introduction is twofold;
1. Is it worth the extra day of racing you now have to take an annual leave day for? Given that this years nats entry level was 10 down from last year, I think you got a resounding no from 10 racers.
2. Eliminating Stock Zenoah's from what remains of the P2 class is nuts. Making this move just to prevent people from racing the same boat twice doesn't make sense. Seriously what is the problem that we're trying to solve with this move.

Finally opening T2 up to any 27 CC engine is long overdue. But similarly, excluding stock Zenoah's from this class doesn't make sense. Given that you can now run other brands of stock engines in this class.

I have just heard a rumour that RCMK have won the legal rights to the name Stock. They are proposing to change the name of their motors to "Stock". Will that mean that my RCMK's will be eligible to run in the proposed stock class.

@ Bob
1)Which ten racers? Where were you?
2)Currently stock zenoahs qualify as P2, why change that. At most regattas currently this is not an issue. The Nats is special!
3)T1 for stock zenoahs...?!!

@Brian
The 'stock' class as it is intended is controlled by everyone running the same engine. In effect a controlled class. The whole point is to have a level playing field with powerplants. This makes it a good class for entry level or for those who do not want to go super fast, and should make for some close racing.

I feel that some are missing the point. We have plenty of options if you want to race boats. Pick a class and run in it. In offshore racing most seem to have one boat, easy. For oval racing by changing engines you get more heats to run in, and the purpose of different engine class sizes is to keep a parity in race speeds which helps the racing. Same as it's ever been!

Hells Bells Sorry give it a rest. The reason Zenoha has been chosen as the motor for stock classes is because.
They don't bring out a new model every year,
They are cheap.
The performance is consistent.
Parts are easy to get.
I get your point that you like RCMK's........ If you like them that much make them go FAST and go blow all the modded Zens away in the mod classes.
IMO these stock classes are the best thing the NZMPBA has done. Now there may need to be some other sacrifice's somewhere in the nats program to fit these new classes.(so be it)
My 2cent worth.
Matt

OK guys this is the last thing I am going to say on "The so called Stock Class". I am fairly new to RC Boat racing and straight away my eyes have been opened to the negativity that has been shown about this subject. It seems that because T1 is so successful it also has to be introduced to Mono & Tunnel. Admittedly I have carried on a bit about the subject but it has been in a jokingly manner. Now to the real facts. I was oh so lucky to retire at a very early age, why. The facts are that I have been a very successful businessman and to be successful you have think outside the square and you do not worry about what the opposition is doing, you do what you think is best for your business. So now to the "Stock Class" V8 Supercars has been successful with only Ford & Holden competing but now the organisers realize that they cannot sustain the same amount of support without letting other manufacturers in hence Nissan, Volvo & Mercedes are now involved. But in saying that all the different brands of V8's meet very stringent specifications and what do we have. We have some great racing. Formula 1 is exactly the same and that is why it is called a Formula. There are different manufacturers that make up Formula 1, some more successful than others but they all have their turn at the top and at the moment Mercedes have the jump on the others after Red Bull dominated for the last four years. But look out next year as Honda power is coming back which will make four different motor manufacturers. But what I am saying is these different manufacturers have to meet very stringent specifications. Indy Cars in America is the same with different manufactures producing the power plants. Now getting back to Stock Class, yes I think it is a great thing to have a level playing field for those that don't want to be super quick (and I am one of them). I go along to enjoy my racing and I have no intention of joining the Cheque Book racing club although I can afford to have my cupboards stocked full of the best that money can buy. When I keep harping on about RCMK's yes I have plenty of them, but if we go back to the word SPECICATIONS and when I say that I do not actually own a standard S 254 RCMK that has the same specs that of a Zenoah, i.e. Bore 34mm Stroke 28mm overall cc rating of 25.4cc. So in that case I would be ineligible to race in the stock class with any of my RCMK's. Yes by all means have a stock class, but don't be narrow minded there are other motor manufacturers out there that fit the criteria. There could be up to four, but yes there would have to be stringent rules re the class. But if a bit more thought is put into it, at the end of the day you will not regret your decision on opening up the class to make it even more competitive. I have said my last word on the subject and I hope that the decision makers think and think hard before making any final decision. Happy Boating. Brian Hely (Sorry)

Hi Wayne,
The Nats results and AGM report are posted at the nationals tab on the home page.

Also I need Matt Gay and Terry Riddiford's email addresses please for committee stuff. Send it to mrelectricnz@gmail.com.

Lastly I think we've beaten this subject enough on this thread. The committee will discuss all the relevant points and in due course have an outcome.

Thanks guys.
Peter A.
