Hi,

We held our last meeting of the year on Sunday the 15th December. Final races for the season were run, buut unfortunately the attrition rate was fairly high so did'nt get a lot of races.

However, the main purpose of the day was to incorporate some racing into a club BBQ and our prizegiving.

It was a lovely day and we had almost a full turnout of club members along with friends and families. It was a good day.

It was a full on year for the club what with club meetings and hosting of the NZ Nationals at Easter and a round of the hyydrofest / ovalfest Series in july. The club has not been without some problems during the year but these have been resolved and we are moving forward as a club.

This coming year will present the club with some challenges with a couple of projects on the go, We are in consultation with the Council to upgrade our launching area with the plan to extend the jetty. Also will look at adding some tables into the 'pit' area.

We are also hosting the North Island Champs over Labour Weekend 2014

Club results for the year,

Ticehurst Cup (Marathon events over an 'M' Course)

1st Trevor Emerson,
2nd Keith Ewing
3rd Wayne Thompson

Emerson Team Racing Cup (5 lap open oval sprints)

1st Trevor Emerson
2nd Keith Ewing
3rd Wayne Thompson.

Most improved member for 2013,

Ray Ticehurst

Most helpful member of 2013,

Bradley Thompson

As a lot more boats have come onto the water during the year, particularly the big deep vees the racing in 2014 will be a lot tighter and the results will come down to time on the water. Trevor managed to get ahead early in the season by being ready to race and competing in every event he could, but he won't have it all his own way next year. As well as more boats the performance of the boats is improving rapidly and there is now not a lot of difference between them. Should be exciting racing, both for the competitors and for the people watching, will be an interesting competition.

We would like to thank all those who have helped and supported us during the year. and really look forward to catching up again in 2014.

Our next club event, the first for 2014, will be on the 12th January. The venue will be confirmed later but will be either Henley Lake or Kourarau Dam, depending on the algae bloom / weed at Henley.

All of the best for Christmas and the new year, (Santa may bring you a new boat motor !!!)

Thanks,

Wayne
